The curator.

NAME: Norman

LOCATION: I live in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, on the same block that the Notorious B.I.G. grew up on and across the street from the complex that raised Lil’ Kim.

AGE: I’m 34 years old, but people usually ask to see ID.

ORIGIN: I was born on July 13 in Woodside, Queens, where I lived until the late 1980s when my family moved to Long Island. I went to three different high schools there before dropping out and moving back to the city.

PRE-OCCUPATION: When it comes to making a living, I’ve been lucky. Last year I published my first book, The Anti-Matter Anthology: A 1990s Post-Punk & Hardcore Reader, through Revelation Records. I still collect album royalties from Texas is the Reason and New End Original. I used to put out other people’s records and write for other people’s magazines. (I’ve also worked as a writer on Kill The House Lights, a feature-length DVD documentary about the band Thursday.) I produce house music under the name Zodiac Social and have well over an album’s worth of guitar music that I don’t know what to do with. I always seem to make the same face in pictures. I write because I’m compelled to.

LEISURE SCIENCES: The United Kingdom. Herman Miller, Tim Gunn, Paul Smith, and Jon Brion. Biking in Brooklyn. Klong. Trainers. Pumpkin spice, no whip.

THANK YOU: Richard Dunlop-Walters saved me from a lifetime of CSS. Tumblr saved me from Wordpress.

FINALLY: Much to my chagrin, I am extremely googleable. Not enough? Ask me.
